One of the most versatile Colombian musicians of his generation, Mauricio Arias-Esguerra has presented his Rapsodia Camaleónicafor piano, trumpet and orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York and in Colombia with the National Symphony Orchestra, Corpas Orchestra and EAFIT Orchestra. As a pianist, one of his projects is the promotion of pieces by contemporary Colombian composers.


He has presented different versions of ¡Colombia Viva!piano recital in Vienna, Sydney, Mexico, Panama, Beijing and different cities in Colombia. Award winning pianist in different piano competitions: Kingsville Isabel Scionti (1st prize – solo) Schmidbauer, Peabody Mason, USasu Bösendorfer, Panama International Piano Competition. In Colombia, he was the winner of the First National Chopin Piano Competition and the UIS National Piano Competition.


He studied piano mainly with Ludmila Weber, Baruch Meir, Robert Hamilton and composition with Rodney Rogers. As a composer, he has received commissions from the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, University of Florida Symphonic Band, Bogotá Secretary of Education (¡Canta, Bogotá Canta!),among others. He has collaborated with artists such as tenor Valeriano Lanchas, trumpeter Pacho Flores, violinist Aisha Syed and clarinetist John Bruce Yeh. He is currently assistant professor at Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. He is founding member of the Bogotá Piano Trio. On 2019, the album La trompeta camaleónica, with Randy Lee on the trumpet, will be released.


The first piano solo album ¡Colombia Viva! will be released on 2020. His scores are available through FILARMONIKA.COM
